The King of All Tournaments (Part Two)

In Order to Love the Game You Have to Understand the Game:

Here you will find the modified edition of FIFA’s 2010/2011 laws of the game.

In Order to Appreciate the World Cup You Need to Know About the World Cup:

The FIFA World Cup, usually referred to simply as the World Cup, is a popular football competition and the most esteemed competition in the world. The championship title is awarded every four years, a tradition that has been in place ever since the tournament began in 1930, with a short interruption between 1942 and 1946 during World War II.

The idea for the World Cup sprang out of the success of the Olympic Football Tournaments from 1908 and onwards. The FIFA President from 1921-1954, Jules Rimet, paved the road for an international tournament to take place outside of the Olympics. On May 28th, 1928, the FIFA congress decided to stage a World Championship, and the history of the World Cup began.

In the last eighty years, eighteen World Cup tournaments have taken place, and seven national teams have won the title.

Brazil have won the World Cup a record of five times and are the only national team to have qualified for every tournament.

Italy, the current defending champions, have won four World Cup titles.

The German National Team have won the title three times.

Both Uruguay (winners of the inaugural tournament 1930 and the World Cup in 1950) and Argentina have won two titles.

England and France have both won a World Cup title once.

Recently thirty-two national teams played in their group stages (A-H with four teams per group) in various cities in South Africa.
